The Transportation Commission approved a public comment period for the draft STIP at its July 18, 2024 meeting. The public has the opportunity to comment on the proposed update of the STIP's planned programming of Federal-Aid and Transit activities for the next ten years.

SCDOT will receive public comment for a 21-day period from July 18, 2024 through August 8, 2024.
Your feedback is welcome.

What is the STIP?

The South Carolina Department of Transportation's (SCDOT) Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is SCDOT's 10-year (Federal Fiscal Year 2024-2033) prioritized listing of transportation projects that receive federal transportation funding or those that require approval from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) or the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Federal regulations require each state to produce a STIP at least once every four years.

The STIP is consistent with the agency's Multimodal Transportation Plan (MTP), the Strategic Ten-Year Asset Management Plan (STAMP), Metropolitan Planning Organization's and Council of Government's long range statewide transportation plans and transportation improvement plans, and serves as the key tool to implementing those plans. The STIP is prepared in cooperation with local and regional agencies and stakeholders, and the information contained within the STIP includes the cost, schedule and funding sources for the identified projects.

SCDOT prioritizes opportunities for the public to provide input on transportation projects and priorities as part of the planning process and SCDOT encourages everyone to view the website and its materials and submit their comments.
