I-85 Widening (MM 98 to 106)

The SCDOT proposes improvements to an approximately 8-mile long section of the I-85 corridor designed to increase capacity, upgrade interchanges and overpass bridges, and to meet state and federal design requirements. SCDOT intends to widen I-85 from four to six lanes beginning at MM 98 and ending at MM 106 in Cherokee County. Along the approximately 8-mile project area, interchanges at Exit 100 - Blacksburg Highway (S-83), Exit 102 - North Mountain Street (SC 5), Exit 104 - Tribal Road (S-99), and Exit 106 - East Cherokee Street (US 29) will be modified to bring them into compliance with state and federal design requirements. The overpass bridge at Norfolk Southern RR crossing will be replaced to provide greater vertical clearance to meet design standards.
