SCDOT Requests Public Comment on the 2021 -2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to Include the Construction Phase of Work for the I-95 Corridor Improvement Project from GA State Line to US 278

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) requests comments from the public on the I-95 Corridor Improvement Project which extends from the GA State Line to US 278 in Jasper County. The SCDOT Commission approved an opportunity for the public to provide comment on the proposed corridor improvement project during its March 16, 2023, meeting.

This Project will improve capacity, mobility, and operations along a (ten) 10 mile corridor of I-95 from one (1) mile into Georgia, at the Savannah River, to approximately MM 9 (just north of US 278) and to address operational deficiencies for the interchanges and bridges within the project corridor.

The public has the opportunity to comment on the action to amend the STIP to include the construction phase of work for the proposed project. SCDOT will receive public comments for a 21-day period from March 17, 2023 through April 6, 2023.

SCDOT certifies that the project was selected in consideration of established priorities as required by federal laws or regulations and in accordance with SC Code of Laws Section 57-1-370 (Act 114) and the SCDOT's 10 year plan. A summary of substantive comments will be available to the Commission. Pending no substantive comments, the project will be added to a subsequent version of the STIP.

A copy of this press release, along with a copy of the funding distribution plan, is available for public review and online comments through April 6, 2023.
