SCDOT Requests Public Comment on the 2024-2033 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program to Include Bridge Replacement Projects in the Pee Dee Region

Columbia, S.C. (September 19, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks public comment on the action to amend the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program to include the preliminary engineering phase of work for two bridge replacement projects in Marlboro and Dillon Counties. SCDOT will receive public comment for a 21-day period from September 19, 2024 through October 10, 2024.

The proposed project will include two sites: the bridge on SC 83 over Little Pee Dee River in Marlboro County and the bridge on S-58 over Beaverdam Creek in Dillon County. The cost of preliminary engineering work for both bridges is $500,000.00. Funds for preliminary engineering work will be divided between the two bridges at $250,000.00 each. The purpose of this project is to reopen both bridges and restore all bridge components to good condition.

SCDOT certifies that these two bridges are closed and consistent with Commission policy, automatically advanced and ranked as high priority projects.
