Interstate 20 eastbound off-ramp to U.S. 1 (Exit 58) to close overnight

Columbia, S.C. (October 12, 2023) - SCDOT will close the Interstate 20 eastbound off-ramp onto U.S. 1 (Exit 58) overnight. The closure is related to work on the U.S. 1 over I-20 Interchange Improvement Project in Lexington County.

The closure will take place from 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 through 6 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13.

Drivers on I-20 eastbound planning to use the off-ramp to U.S. 1 at Exit 58 should follow the detour route to U.S. 378 at Exit 61. Drivers will then follow the detour to I-20 westbound where they will be routed back to U.S. 1 (Augusta Highway) at Exit 58.

Message boards and signs along these routes will display detour directions. SCDOT encourages drivers to plan their routes in advance, use caution, and check SCDOT's 511 app or webpage for road condition information.

The U.S. 1 over I-20 Interchange Improvement Project in Lexington County is a part of SCDOT’s Strategic 10-year Plan to rebuild South Carolina’s roads and bridges. Upon completion, the project will fully replace the existing interchange to improve overall traffic through this area. It is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
