Columbia, S.C. (September 22, 2023) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has begun resurfacing a portion of Interstate 26 in Berkeley and Dorchester counties, between mile markers 181 and 186.
This resurfacing work will take place over the next several months and may result in temporary lane closures or detours during the overnight hours between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Motorists should follow signed detour routes and use caution when driving near construction zones.
Resurfacing this section of I-26 is in keeping with SCDOT’s goal of completing 215 miles of Interstate Highway improvements as part of the agency’s Strategic 10-Year Plan.
