SCDOT to implement nighttime lane closures during overhead sign installations on U.S. 501 in Horry County

Columbia, S.C. (September 22, 2023) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement temporary nighttime lane closures during sign installations on US 501 between Carolina Forest Boulevard and SC 31 in Horry County.


Construction of the overhead sign structures and installation of the signs will begin Sunday, September 24, and will continue through Thursday, September 29, at nighttime, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be temporary lane closures during the construction phase.


During the sign installation phase, there will be temporary, overnight periods of total closure of both the northbound and southbound lanes. Traffic will be managed by law enforcement. SCDOT asks motorists to use caution when driving through the work zone.
