Update: SCDOT reschedules two traffic shifts at Berlin G. Myers Parkway

July 29 update: Traffic shifts were originally scheduled to begin today. Because of rain, traffic shifts have been rescheduled to begin late Monday, July 31 into the early morning of Tuesday, August 1.

Columbia, S.C. (July 26, 2023) – SCDOT asks Summerville-area motorists to prepare for significant traffic shifts starting this Sunday, July 30, as part of the Berlin G. Myers Parkway Project in Dorchester County.

With the project in Phase 3 of construction, a new ramp that was recently completed will allow SCDOT to begin shifting traffic. Starting Sunday, SCDOT will enact Traffic Shift 1, which will move southbound traffic onto the newly constructed ramp, pictured. The existing traffic signal at the intersection of Berlin Myers Parkway and East Carolina Avenue/Bacons Bridge Road will be adjusted to accommodate the new traffic pattern.

As soon as Traffic Shift 1 is complete and southbound traffic moved onto the new ramp, SCDOT will begin Traffic Shift 2. Traffic Shift 2 will move northbound traffic on Berlin Myers Parkway onto the existing southbound alignment.

Signage will be placed near traffic shift locations to give motorists advance notice. In case of rain, the traffic shifts will begin on Monday, July 31. SCDOT asks motorists to pay attention and drive carefully in this area as traffic patterns shift.
