The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will perform routine bridge repairs that will require closing the outside lane on the SC-49 northbound bridge over Crowders Creek in York County. This single lane closure will begin this afternoon (Tuesday, May 31, 2022) and will remain closed for approximately two weeks. During this two-week period, northbound traffic will use the left lane.
Following the initial two-week period, motorists should expect a daytime northbound closure after the morning commute during the work week and a 24 hour closure on weekends.
All repairs are scheduled to be completed and all lanes open to traffic by August 14, 2022, barring delays due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Motorists traveling along this section of SC-49 are advised to use caution in the work zone and expect traffic congestion. Motorists are also encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid congestion on SC-49 in the northbound direction.
