New, Improved Bridge to be Built on Pine Tree Road in Williamsburg County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to build a new, improved bridge to replace the Soccee Swamp Bridge along Pine Tree Road in Williamsburg County.

This project will replace a structurally deficient and weight restricted bridge with a new wider, longer and taller bridge. The new bridge will improve safety with upgraded barrier walls, improved guardrails, wider shoulders and will no longer be weight restricted.

SCDOT is replacing replace hundreds of deficient bridges across the state as part of the agency's 10-year Strategic Plan.

The bridge is scheduled to close on May 20, 2022. Pending any delays due to weather or other unforeseen issues, Pine Tree Road is expected to re-open to traffic by June 30, 2023. Local access will be maintained for the properties within the road closure. The detour will use East Lawrimore Road (S-45-40), Percy Road (S-45-475) and Rufus Road (S-45-576).
