The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will hold a public information meeting for a proposed road improvement project in Greenville County, (S-107) Butler Road. The meeting will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Mauldin Cultural Center located at 101 E. Butler Road, Mauldin, SC 29662.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to review, comment on, and discuss the revisions to the proposed Butler Road improvements project that have been made since the January 2021 public meeting held for the project. Another purpose of this meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area.
In addition, the project is anticipated to take right-of-way from a public park owned by the City of Mauldin (Mauldin Park) for road improvements. Based on the project's proposed use of the park, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to make a de minimis (minimal impact) finding for the project. SCDOT is coordinating with the City of Mauldin and would improve access to the park with the proposed improvements. This meeting will also be held to provide information and receive comments on the proposed de minimis finding.
SCDOT representatives will be available at the meeting to discuss the concept design and project details, and members of the public will have an opportunity to provide written comments. More information can be found on the project website buildingabetterbutler.com.
Comments can be made at the public information meeting, on the project website, by emailing the SCDOT Project Manager, Casey Lucas, at butlerroad@scdot.org, or by mailing a letter to Casey Lucas at SCDOT, 955 Park Street, PO Box 191, Columbia, SC 29201. Comments will be accepted through December 10, 2021.
