The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will utilize temporary lane closures and pacing operations in both the northbound and southbound lanes on I-77 between mile marker 15 (I-20) and mile marker 19 on the northbound side, and mile marker 22 (Killian Road) and mile marker 18 in Richland County on the southbound side on Saturday night, March 14, 2020.
The Interstate 77 Southbound on-ramp from Farrow Road (Exit 19) will also be closed. The purpose is to facilitate the construction of the new SC 277 Northbound Bridge over I-77.
Lane closures on the northbound side will begin at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday and will reopen by 10 a.m. the following morning. Lane closures on the southbound side and the ramp closure will begin at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday and both will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) will temporarily pace traffic at a controlled, reduced speed through the work zone for a maximum of 20 minutes during the lane closures.
SCDOT reminds the public to use caution while driving through work zones. Motorists can use SCDOT's 511 Traveler system:
